Die Hekelpennetjie – Handmade with love, care and attention to detail.

Welcome to Die Hekelpennetjie! Every product is handmade with care and attention to quality, finishing and detail. As our products are handmade and yarn is often purchased specifically for each order, we ask you to read the following terms and conditions carefully before placing an order.

These terms apply to all purchases on this website. Please read them together with our Returns and Refunds Policy, our Delivery Policy and our Privacy Policy, which form part of these terms.

1. About us

Die Hekelpennetjie is a small online shop for handmade crochet products for babies and little ones. We do not have a physical shop that can be visited; all orders are delivered by courier. The seller’s details are:

2. Our products

All our products are crocheted by hand on the farm where Christi lives. Each product page describes the main characteristics of the product: what it is, the available sizes, colours and types of yarn, the price and the total delivery time.

Every product in the shop is one of two kinds:

  • Ready to ship: a small quantity that is finished or can be finished within 1–2 days. When stock runs out, the website shows that the product is temporarily unavailable.
  • Made to order: the product is only made after you have ordered and paid. The production time is shown on the product page.

Because every item is made by hand, small differences in size, shape and colour are normal. Colours on a screen may also differ slightly from the actual yarn. This does not affect your rights if a product is genuinely defective (see our Returns and Refunds Policy).

3. Prices

  • All prices are in South African rand (R) and include all applicable taxes.
  • The price of each product and option is shown on the product page. The colour you choose does not change the price.
  • The delivery cost is shown at checkout before you pay, so you see the full amount (products plus delivery) before you confirm your order. See our Delivery Policy.
  • If there is an obvious pricing error on the website, we will contact you before processing the order. You can then choose to continue at the correct price or to cancel the order and receive a full refund.

4. How ordering works

The ordering process works as follows:

1. Choose the product and any available options (such as size, colour and type of yarn) and add it to your cart.

2. Choose your delivery method (PUDO parcel locker or delivery to your door) and fill in your details.

3. Review your order before you pay. You can remove items, correct details or abandon the order completely before you make the final payment.

4. Pay on PayFast’s secure payment page.

5. Once payment has been received and confirmed, you receive a confirmation email with the details of your order.

6. For made-to-order products, the required yarn and materials are ordered at this point. You receive updates and photographs of the production process where applicable.

7. Once the product is completed and ready for dispatch, it is sent with the next dispatch cycle and you receive the available shipping details.

The sales agreement between you and Die Hekelpennetjie is concluded once your payment has been received and your order has been confirmed.

Please keep your confirmation email: it is your record of the transaction. You may also ask us at any time to send you a copy of your order details. Confirmation emails are sent from a no-reply address and replies to it are not read; please contact us using the details in section 13 instead.

Important: Yarn for an order will only be purchased after payment has been received.

5. Payment and payment security

  • All orders must be paid in full before the yarn and materials for the order are purchased.
  • Payments are processed by PayFast. When you pay, you are redirected to PayFast’s secure payment page, where you can pay with the methods PayFast offers there (such as card and Instant EFT).
  • Die Hekelpennetjie never sees or stores your full card details. They are handled directly by PayFast, under PayFast’s own security standards.
  • Our website uses a secure (HTTPS) connection.
  • If you accidentally overpay, the excess amount will be refunded to you once the overpayment has been verified.

6. Personal and special orders

Every handmade product is created with care. The shop offers products in fixed sizes, colours and types of yarn. If you would like something that is not in the shop, or want to order a large quantity, please get in touch through the Contact page. We will then discuss the details, price and timing with you before you pay anything. Personal orders are not placed through the shop’s checkout.

Personal orders made to your own specifications cannot be returned simply because you changed your mind, but your rights if the product is defective remain in force. See our Returns and Refunds Policy.

7. Production and delivery time

The total delivery time (production time, plus the time until the next dispatch day, plus the courier’s time) is shown on each product page. We hand orders to the courier every 2 weeks. All times are estimates, and we will let you know as soon as possible about any significant delay. The details are in our Delivery Policy.

If we do not fulfil your order within the delivery time shown with your order (or within 30 days if no time was shown), you may cancel the order with 7 days’ written notice and receive a full refund.

8. Cancellations, returns and refunds

You have a legal cooling-off right of 7 days after you receive your product, and your rights regarding defective products always remain in force. How cancellations, returns and refunds work is explained in full in our Returns and Refunds Policy.

9. Use of photographs, designs and business name

All original photographs, branding, logos, designs and other material created by Die Hekelpennetjie belong to Die Hekelpennetjie. They may not be used without permission in a way that suggests they belong to another business, and customers may not use them to market products as their own.

Customers are welcome to:

  • Share the Die Hekelpennetjie website with others.
  • Share photographs of products they have purchased.
  • Tag Die Hekelpennetjie on social media.
  • Enquire about the products.

Purchasing a handmade product does not automatically grant permission to reproduce Die Hekelpennetjie’s business name, logo, original photographs or protected designs for commercial use.

10. Privacy

We handle your personal information with care and in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA). Our Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why, who we share it with and what your rights are.

11. Your legal rights

These terms must be read together with applicable South African legislation, including the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 and the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002. No provision in these terms is intended to exclude or limit your legal rights where such exclusion or limitation is not permitted by law.

We are not responsible for delays caused by circumstances beyond our control (such as severe weather or disruptions at the courier), but your right to cancel and receive a refund in such a case remains in force.

12. Changes and governing law

We may update these terms from time to time. The terms that applied on the website when you placed your order apply to that order. These terms are governed by the law of the Republic of South Africa.

By placing an order, you confirm that you have read the product details, prices, estimated production time, delivery costs and these terms and conditions.
